In preparation for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games travelers are reminded to be aware of cybersecurity and physical security risks. Cyber criminals may attempt to steal PII or harvest credentials for financial gain.

Key Findings:

  • The Olympic Games in Pyeongchang will be the world first testbed of 5G mobile communication services
  • South Korean immigration officials have already deported a number of foreigners who could “potentially pose a terrorist menace” to the 2018 Winter Games
  • This year, Samsung will deliver over 4,000 devices to all Olympians as well as the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic family, interestingly including IOC and POCOG staff
  • There have already been both physical and cyber threats made to the 2018 Winter Games
